Ontario's Attorney General needs to be fired.

In the wake of the street racing that has been going on on the streets of Toronto and southern Ontario, and specifically, after two men were arrested for racing their Corvettes up highway 400, Michael Bryant, Ontario's attorney general has stated that any car even suspected of being used in street racing will be sent to the compactors.

Section 11(d) of Canada's charter of rights and freedoms specifically states:

Any person charged with an offence has the right to be presumed innocent until proven guilty according to law in a fair and public hearing by an independent and impartial tribunal.

Destroying these men's cars without giving them their due process first would be a complete and utter abuse of Canada's justice system, and these mens' unrevokable rights to the process.

I'm not for a second justifying what these men did, or street racing in general; they just deserve their day in court for the offenses they have been accused of, and a judge can decide for himself whether or not destroying their cars is an acceptable punishment.

I'm sick and fucking tired of the 'issue-of-the-day' becoming all people seem to care about, and the victims caught up in the sensationalism it creates. Everyone deserves a fair, IMPARTIAL trial when they commit an offense.

EVERYONE.
