Political Idiocy
Date: 28 Feb 2008 @ 09:09

It seems no matter where you look, everyone is now attributing every single one of the world's problems to the people who exist on the opposite end of the political spectrum from them.

What's funniest about it is that you can find two people attributing eachother to the same problem.

On a thread on Fark, (I know, I should know better than to read such drivel, but I'm a glutton for punishment.) about oil companies having to pay an extra $18B in taxes, the 'conservatives' are saying things like, 'the don't understand supply and demand'. The 'liberals' are saying things like, 'you are saying the prices aren't fixed, but are living in the lap of luxury off the backs of the working public.'

The division of people that has occurred over the past few years in the world is abominable.

Equally unsettling are the people who proudly call themselves liberals or conservatives. If your beliefs are really completely summarised with a single word, I'd suggest you have no idea what you're talking about, or are simply basing your beliefs on a doctrine someone else came up with. Try thinking for yourself.

The sooner we stop assigning labels to eachother to attempt to fit them in a box, start acknowledging the world's problems from an objective standpoint, stop blaming issues that are completely unrelated to politics on the people on the opposite end of the political spectrum from ourselves, the sooner we'll actually get some work done.

Until then, it's going to continue to be a case of political masturbation. It might feel good, but you aren't achieving anything.
